Firefighters to be lauded for heroics


One of north Windham Fire Dept's home grown firefighters getting honor for a rescue he did working on the job at Willimantic fire dept last fall on Clark st
he will be honored by the Connecticut state firefighters association inc with the lifesaving award
we at the North Windham Fire Dept are proud to have had you as a firefighter in the dept and keep up the good work in you job at Willimantic

NEW RESCUE TECHNIQUES

Fire/rescue working at a training at northeast recyclers
working on new techniques needed for newer cars
making the cut in the front fender of the car

WILLIMANTIC WASTE PAPER FIRE

Fire started inside a receiving area that bulky waste is stored

STORM HITS FIRE DEPTS GO TO WORK

Willimantic fire dept had wires down on engine 201
there was a tree down with a pole and wires with smoke in 88 chestnut st
The pole that came down had a transformer on it
The transformer was one of the old black one and had PCB in it hazmat had to dig up the front yard of the house this was 4 days after the pole came down not good

HOUSE FIRE WORMWOOD RD MANSFIELD

Mansfield firefighter working a 2 1/2 line with a ground gun
needed to move big water
The call was about 3:54 pm
Firefighter working to contain the blaze but the house is a loss
water was from a pond that was about 1200 feet down hill from the house
water and trees down do to the storm slow the fire dept from getting to the call
