Just out of town for a long weekend in upstate New York at Oxbow Lake. I came across the EMS for the town. I would have passed it if Kim didn't point it out. This is the volunteer ambulance bay on a house. Thank God we have a paid ambulance because the hospital is a long way a way.
I was going to pick up a new saw for the dept while I was up there but it may have been an over kill, and a little on the big side.

NO TIME TO SLEEP
It's been a crazy week at the fire house so far- and it not over. It started with an early morning medical call on Tuesday and it's Thursday now.
We had 6 medical calls (two were unresponsive) and 5 fires calls, 3 of them had actual fires. This is one of the fires. One in the city, first engine in with Car 101. Engine 201 was at another call. One in Windham Center, second engine in on Shetucket Drive.

Motorcycle into the Guard Rail on Route 6 Eastbound
Upon my arrival to find a motorcyclist that hit the guard rail and laid her bike down, we called for Life Star. A passing Medic witnessed the crash and stopped to help. When I got there he was calming the rider and helping with c-spine.
The rider got flown out to Hartford Hospital by Life Star due to her injuries.
Too Close to Home
Almost a year ago the Chief had a fire in his bedroom (ok, no jokes- we already made all of them) that was started by a heating blanket. They were very lucky, but their bedroom was completely destroyed and the entire house has smoke damage. It has been a long year for the Chief and his family, but this weekend we all celebrated their official re-houswarming, with a "No Heating Pad Party". It was a great time for friends and family to all be together- and for the Chief and his wife to thank everyone for supporting them through this hard time.
The food was great, and the company was even better- even Maxim celebrated in his lawn chair. We found a new game and had a tournament, too bad the Chief won at his own game.... There was nothing funnier than jokin about people throwing the blue balls, we really loved teasing George, and I think he liked all the attention!

Box Truck Fire
A box truck fire at the end of Baker Road. Car 202 and Firefighter Miles Jr made a good knock down- to their surprise the truck had some magnesium in it. The fire was in the cab part of the truck. The Engine Tanker used about 200 gallons of water and 150 feet of 1 3/4 line off the bumper, the trash line. (But remember we'll never use that.)
